Billrothhaus
The Billrothhaus is the headquarters of the Vienna Medical Association and was opened in 1893. It is situated in Vienna’s 9th district, amongst numerous other medical institutions. As well as serving as a specialist medical library, the Billrothhaus has also been used as an event venue for many years.
Anreise
The Billrothhaus (Frankgasse 8, 1090 Vienna) is situated in the immediate vicinity of the Altes AKH university campus and the Austrian National Bank in the centre of Vienna. The Billrothhaus is easily accessible by public transport from the stations Schottentor (lines U2, 1, 37, 38, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 71, D), Landesgerichtsstraße (lines 43, 44), Schwarzspanierstraße (lines 37, 38, 40, 41, 42) and Lange Gasse (lines 5, 33).
Update: From 2026, the Billrothhaus will have a direct underground connection via the U5 line, which is currently under construction. The first new U5 station will be called Frankhplatz and will be located in the immediate vicinity of the Billrothhaus. Further information can be found here.
Motorists can park in the short-stay parking zones around the building (Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 22:00, maximum parking time: 2 hours). In addition, there is an underground car park in the immediate vicinity at Otto-Wagnerplatz (further information can be found at www.bestinparking.at) and at Votivpark (www.wipark.at).
Due to construction work to extend the underground network, there are road diversions near the Billrothhaus. Anyone travelling by car or bicycle can find information here about the resulting traffic changes. We recommend using the public transport options mentioned above wherever possible. The large-scale construction site and the diversions are also affecting the parking situation (there is no short-stay parking zone directly in front of the Billrothhaus).
